Cat fight... leading to death of both

A tiger (female) and panther (male) were found dead in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in the Nilgiris on Sunday.the forest report reviles that both animal died as a result of injuries sustained during a territorial fight. The bodies of the five-yearold sub-adult tigress and eight year-old panther were found about 20m away from each other near the Manjakadu river bed inside the tiger reserve.

But a controversy to this the experts of environment pleads that both tigers and panthers can live in the same environment, they are both territorial animals and rivals too. So,clashes can occur and, when a sub-adult tiger is pitted against a fullgrown panther, both can be injured and even killed.Territorial fights between such predators are commonly seen in Africa, say experts.

In the last one year, three tigers, including the one that was found dead on Sunday, have died in the Nilgiri forests.
